Health and Safety

The health and safety of our travelers is our # 1 priority. Every day. Every program. No exceptions. Travel with confidence, knowing we’ve got you covered and we will be with you every step of the way.

Risk Management

We maintain a comprehensive risk management plan. As part of this plan, we make it a priority to monitor the status of each of our destinations through US State Department, U.S. Center for Disease Control, international authorities and daily updates from our own local staff, global partners and travel directors.

Support & Expertise

Our groups are accompanied by our experienced, professional Travel Directors who not only provide local insight and manage logistics but are also trained in our enhanced Covid-19 health and safety protocols. Local staff are also available to support Travel Directors in the unlikely event of an emergency.

24/7 Access

We are available to leaders, parents and students 24/7 during our programs. While traveling, our leaders are provided with a direct communication link to our senior-level staff (not a call center), via text, cell phone, or What’s App messaging. In addition, we are in constant contact with our local Travel Directors to be sure everything is running smoothly, and trouble-shoot any potential concerns before issues arise.

Insurance

Educators and their institutions are covered by our comprehensive liability insurance plan. In addition, travelers have the option to purchase additional medical, trip and cancellation insurance for an extra coverage. Click here for details on policies.

On-Site Inspections

We regularly inspect hotel properties, restaurants and buses for safety standards, Covid-19 prevention policies, cleanliness and quality. Our staff is thoroughly trained and updated on all safety protocols and practices.

Communication

We are committed to constant, timely and clear communication of all travel polices, including Covid-19 mitigation protocols with our staff, partners and clients. We also include pre-program meetings and seminars for our students to be fully prepared before they depart on their program.

Training

All Program Leaders and Travel Directors are extensively and continuously trained prior to and throughout the travel season. All Leaders are first-aid and CPR certified and participate in a wide-range of trainings on topics from emotional well-being and homesickness to cultural intelligence and our 4 core values of equality, empathy, inclusivity and open-mindedness.

We also include a series of online seminars and preparation meetings for students and their families to help prepare them for their program, including seminars on topics such as art and history, to packing tips and FAQs.

Student and Leader Health

All travelers must attest to their health and/or COVID exposure to anyone who has tested positive, 72 hours prior to the start of the program. All travelers must provide any test results or proof of vaccine required by airlines or destination countries. Travel Directors, Program Leaders and buses are supplied with extra masks, hand sanitizer, water and a touchless thermometer. HTP will assist in providing medical attention as well as securing additional rooms to accommodate travelers who need to quarantine or self-isolate.

Smaller Groups

Due to current health concerns, buses will operate at reduced capacity to allow for spacing. All buses will have proper ventilation / air circulation. Enhanced cleaning will take place daily and between stops of all high touch areas. When possible, we will also limit the use of public transport, such as metros.
