- This program was inspired by a travel program we designed for LaGrange College’s 3D Journeys - a seminar and travel series hosted for Lagrange Alumni.

Mozart in Vienna

Travel back into the baroque era, as you experience the sounds of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in the opulent setting of Vienna's world famous Musikverein.

Local Cuisine

Bretzel (Bavarian pretzels), Wiener Schnitzel, Gulyás (Hungarian meat and vegetable stew) and decadent chocolates and pastries await! Guten Appetit!

Discover Europe’s second longest river which flows through 10 countries in Central and Eastern Europe. See the most iconic sights of Budapest (known as the “Pearl of the Danube”) on an evening river cruise.

Day-by-Day Details

 

Day 1: OVERNIGHT FLIGHT

  • Fly overnight to Germany.

Day 2: MUNICH

  • Arrive in Munich, meet your travel director and transfer to your centrally located hotel.

  • Stretch your legs on an orientation tour before dinner.

Day 3: MUNICH

  • This morning, explore Bavaria’s capital on a guided sightseeing tour

  • Visit Nymphenburg Palace, built as a summer residence for Bavarian kings.

  • Later, learn the sobering history of World War II on a visit to the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site.

  • Return to Munich for a traditional Bavarian dinner at the famous Ratskeller.

Day 4: MUNICH

  • Enjoy a full day excursion to Berchtesgaden to visit the Eagle’s Nest.

  • Continue to Salzburg, and see the Mirabell gardens, the busy Getreidegasse and Mozart’s birthplace. You will also see Hohensalzburg.

  • Return to Munich for overnight and dinner at your hotel.

Day 5: PRAGUE

  • Depart Munich for the beautiful city of Prague.

  • Enroute enjoy a lunch stop and a vist to Karlštejn Castle.

  • After a brief orientation walk upon arrival in Prague enjoy a delicious dinner in a local restaurant.

Day 6: PRAGUE

  • A guided tour of the city includes a visit to the Hradcany Castle, St. Vitus Cathedral and the Golden Lane.

  • Visit to the Museum of Decorative Arts.

  • Dinner.

Day 7: VIENNA

  • Transfer to Vienna via Cesky Krumlov.

  • Enjoy a free afternoon to explore, Vienna.

  • Enjoy dinner at your hotel.

Day 8: VIENNA 

  • Spend the day with a guide touring the most important historical sights of Vienna, and a visit to Schönbrunn Palace, the former summer residence of the Hapsburg family.

  • After an early dinner at the hotel, enjoy a traditional waltz performance.

Day 9: BUDAPEST 

  • Travel to Budapest with a stop in Bratislava, for a guided walking tour

  • Continue to Budapest for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: BUDAPEST  

  • Sightseeing this morning brings you to Castle Hill, the 13th-century Matthias Coronation Church, the Royal Palace, and the Fisherman’s Bastion, and a visit of St. Stephen's Basilica, the largest church in the country.

  • Enjoy a free afternoon to further explore the city, or perhaps cruise the beautiful Danube.

  • Dinner and overnight.

Day 11:  RETURN HOME

  • Travel to the airport for your return flight to the United States.
