Day-by-Day Details

Day 1 - Departure Day

Fly overnight to Paris, France.

Day 2 - Paris

Arrive in Paris, meet your travel director, and travel to your hotel. Jump right in to your itinerary with a visit to the Ecole des Beaux Arts where the Carmignac Fondation photojournalism prize winner Newsha Tavakolian will present her work to the group. Enjoy dinner after an orientation meeting.

Day 3 - Paris

Take in the views of Paris on a guided panoramic bus journey, focusing on important Parisian buildings and landmarks. Visit the Louvre Museum, one of the world’s largest and most visited museums, to experience art throughout the centuries. Join an overview of iBooks with faculty before enjoying dinner. In the evening, attend a lecture on the architecture of the Louvre with architect Sylvia Adjamian.

Day 4 - Paris

Today, put your technique to the test as you have the opportunity to photograph the architectural masterpiece that is a stunning symbol of Paris, the Palais Garnier Opera House. In the afternoon, attend a photography lecture with Dominique Escartin.

Day 5 - Paris

Admire the French Gothic architecture of Notre Dame Cathedral on your visit this morning, and observe the hundreds of people who come to photograph it every day. Enjoy a free afternoon to explore the Ile St. Louis or the Left Bank.

Day 6 - Paris

Start your day at the Sorbonne, one of the most famous and prestigious institutes of higher learning. Delve deep into French photography with a midday visit to SPÉOS Paris Ecole de Photographie, where you will attend a lecture. An afternoon photo review with faculty allows you to asses your work so far.

Day 7 - Paris

Today you will have the opportunity to photograph the Eiffel tower in day and evening light. Start your day at the iconic symbol of Paris and return to the tower in the evening, with one set of entrances included to the top. In addition, take a leisurely cruise along the Seine river.

Day 8 - Paris

Visit the impressive Fondation Louis Vuitton building, designed by famous American architect Frank Gehry. This daring, modern space aims to provide a venue for meaningful exchange between artists and visitors from Paris and around the world. Enjoy a free afternoon and evening.

Day 9 - Paris

Enjoy stunning views of Paris once again on a visit to the Basilica de Sacre Coeur, a Romanesque cathedral whose steps are a gathering place for both locals and tourists alike. Wander through the streets of Montmartre, home to artists such as Picasso and Modigliani, before enjoying dinner in this quaint Parisian quarter.

Day 10 - Paris

After a free morning, enjoy an afternoon to the Musee d’Orsay, housed in one of the most recognized buildings of all time—the Orsay railway station, subject of a very famous black and white photograph. Peruse hundreds of years of art here before enjoying a free evening.

Day 11 - Paris

This morning, visit the Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine, a museum of architecture that features examples of French architecture from the twelfth century to the present. Enjoy a free afternoon to explore the city.

Day 12 - Paris

Immerse yourself in the life and culture of the city today as you meet French students and spend the day shooting photos around the city. It’s a great opportunity to work on your composition and practice your French!

Day 13 - Paris

Take in modern sculpture and architecture this morning, as you travel to La Defense for a photo shoot. Spend the rest of the day reviewing photos with faculty before enjoying a farewell dinner.

Day 14 - Departure Day

Fly to the United States.
